Phones, Fusion, & Filing S-1s
LFG Ventures presents a weekly newsletter delivering private market (pre-IPO) insights and signals across tech and frontier industries.

AI lawsuits, fusion breakthroughs, and a our favorite influencer building a phone company. Welcome to the weird and wild frontier. This week, OpenAI is on a buying spree, Elon is lawyering up, MrBeast is building a carrier, and Lambda might be heading to the public markets. Investor interest is heating up across the board, and we’re right in the middle of it.
Let’s get into it.
📡 Radar
☁️ Lambda eyes IPO
Cloud compute firm Lambda, a top provider of AI infrastructure and a rare NVIDIA alternative, is reportedly preparing for a public listing. While no S1 has been filed yet, early IPO talks are underway. As GPU demand surges, Lambda could emerge as a dark horse in the AI infrastructure race, leaner than the hyperscalers and built natively for the AI boom. Techcrunch
We’re an investor in Lambda and pumped for the IPO. We’ll keep LPs updated as we learn more.
📱 MrBeast builds a phone company
YouTuber MrBeast is reportedly launching a mobile carrier that could hit the market in 2026. It would operate as an MVNO and blend creator content with telecom service. Distribution is built-in. Pricing will be aggressive. And it’s another step toward creators owning infrastructure, not just attention. Techcrunch
⚖️ xAI sues ex-employee over trade secrets
xAI is taking legal action against former engineer Tony Wu, accusing him of stealing proprietary code before leaving for OpenAI. A judge has blocked Wu from working on LLMs or disclosing sensitive info. One thing is for sure, you never want to be on the business end of an Elon lawsuit. Reuters
🔌 Commonwealth Fusion raises $863M
With backing from Bill Gates, NVIDIA, Google, and others, Commonwealth Fusion raised $863 million to commercialize magnet-based fusion energy. The company has now raised over $2.6 billion total. Still early on net energy output, but investor conviction is heating up. Techcrunch
🧩 OpenAI buys Statsig for $1.1B
OpenAI just acquired product analytics startup Statsig in an all-stock deal. Founder Vijaye Raji will lead OpenAI’s applications engineering team under Fidji Simo. The move hints at faster, more disciplined consumer product rollouts as OpenAI builds out its app layer. OpenAI

💨 Quadzilla’s Playbook Goes Private
Rob’s a lifelong Giants fan, so seeing Saquon Barkley in an Eagles jersey is already tough. Watching him tear up the Giants twice a year makes it worse. But credit where it’s due. Saquon’s investment portfolio is just as explosive as his game.
We share many positions in companies like Strike, Eight Sleep, Neuralink, Anthropic, and Anduril. If he keeps investing like this, the NFL might end up being his side hustle.
In a recent profile, Barkley breaks down how he’s quietly built a sharp, forward-looking portfolio across AI, health, and consumer tech. He’s not just betting on himself on Sundays. He’s doing it at the cap table too.
🏁 LFG Beach Buggy
Meyers Manx and Porsche specialists Tuthill just unveiled the LFG, a carbon fiber off road beast with a flat six engine and gull wing doors. Only 100 will be built, each with a six year adventure package that kicks off in Baja in 2027. Seems only right we get one. 👀

🏎️ Speed Over Comfort
In startups and investing, speed creates chaos. If your calendar feels too open or your inbox too quiet, you’re probably not moving fast enough. Progress should feel just a little out of control. We feel this quote.
