Defense Deals, Data Centers, & Drones
LFG Ventures presents a weekly newsletter delivering private market (pre-IPO) insights and signals across tech and frontier industries.

GM and Happy Saturday!
Long week in Dallas as Chris joined me for partner and LP meetings, year-end planning, and attended a small private event with Governor Abbott. Chris also picked up his first pair of cowboy boots from Tecovas and was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they were. Next up on his list is a pair of Luccheses. š¤
From defense to data centers, the frontier is scaling fast. Anthropic is projecting $70B in annual revenue by 2028 as corporate demand for Claude-powered agents surges. Amazon is deepening its partnership with OpenAI, betting AWS will be the backbone of AI compute. SpaceX scored a $2B Pentagon contract for its new āGolden Domeā satellite network, while Perplexity launched a patent search tool thatās moving it beyond curiosity chat and into enterprise territory. We also saw PsiQuantum lock in a deal with Lockheed Martin to bring quantum computing to defense, and Anduril opened its first Australian factory to build autonomous undersea drones.
Letās go!

š Anthropic Projects $70B In Revenue by 2028
Anthropic is forecasting a massive jump in enterprise demand, projecting $70 billion in annual revenue by 2028. The surge will be driven by corporate adoption of Claude-powered agents across finance, healthcare, and government sectors. With that growth trajectory, Anthropic is positioning itself as OpenAIās most credible enterprise rival. TechCrunch
āļø AWS Deepens AI Infrastructure for OpenAI
Amazon quietly expanded its infrastructure deal with OpenAI, allowing workloads to run directly on AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips. The move signals a closer partnership between two AI heavyweights while diversifying compute away from NVIDIA dependence. AWS is clearly betting on being the backbone of AI infrastructure, not just another cloud option. Amazon
š SpaceX Wins $2B āGolden Domeā Contract
SpaceX just landed a $2 billion Pentagon contract to build a new classified satellite constellation called Golden Dome. The system will expand U.S. space-based communications and surveillance, adding another layer to Starlinkās defense-grade network. Muskās space empire is now a core pillar of Americaās orbital infrastructure. Investors
š Perplexity Launches Patent Search
Perplexity AI is moving into research-grade territory with a new AI-powered patent search tool. It combines LLM reasoning with structured USPTO and EPO data, helping users uncover technical insights buried in legal filings. This push cements Perplexity as the go-to AI for factual precision and professional use cases, not just curiosity-driven chat. The Verge
š½ PsiQuantum Teams With Lockheed Martin
We just wrapped our investment in PsiQuantum, and theyāre already making moves. The company announced a new partnership with Lockheed Martin to advance quantum computing for aerospace and defense. The collaboration will use photonic qubit systems to simulate flight dynamics, materials, and encryption models, marking another step in quantumās shift from theory to real-world defense applications. PsiQuantum
š¦ Anduril Opens Australian Ghost Shark Factory
Anduril Industries just opened a submarine drone facility in Australia to manufacture its Ghost Shark autonomous undersea vehicles. The plant will support AUKUS-aligned defense initiatives and serve as Andurilās hub for Indo-Pacific operations. The company continues to expand its global defense footprint at startup speed. Reuters

š¦ 100 Founders
One of our portfolio companies and AI Super Connector, Boardy, just launched a new campaign to help 100 founders close their rounds before year-end. They recently introduced a founder to Marc Andreessen after narrowing 3,000 startups down to 60 top-tier names, including Thiel Fellows, YC alums, and repeat unicorn builders. If youāre raising, give Boardy a try.
šŖ Deck Building
We often get asked about creative tools for building decks and presentations. Canva and Googleās Gemini just announced a partnership that could be a game changer. Weāre testing it out this week and will report back with our thoughts.
š· David Sacks
Our favorite Bestie, David Sacks, now serving as the White House AI and Crypto Czar, sat down with Marc Andreessen, Ben Horowitz, and Erik Torenberg to dig into the big frontier topics, including winning the AI race against China, creating a real federal crypto framework, solving the AI energy crunch, and fixing San Francisco. He also pointed out that AI doomerism is just climate doomerism with better marketing. He seems far more at ease here than when Jason Calacanis has him fired up on the All-In Podcast. Worth a listen at 1x.
š Gear
Itās getting colder, and we just dropped a new colorway in our hoodie collection. Pre-shrunk, 460gsm heavyweight cotton, vintage washed, and built to last. Your new favorite hoodie has arrived.
